Shyun Ramen Bar

My love affair with ramen started in 2019 when I visited to Japan for the very first time. Prior to this, I hadn’t really dabbled in that much ramen, and to be honest when I did I wasn’t a massive fan. I put this down to going to the wrong places and not really knowing how good ramen had the potential to be.

That all changed when I visited Tokyo. On this trip, I think I slurped ramen every single day, sometimes 4 times in a 24 hour period. It is safe to say, I am now a ramen lover. I am quite literally obsessed with it.

Now, I like to think of myself as a ramen connoisseur, and have a few restaurants in Melbourne which I could not recommend more highly for quality, authentic ramen.

Shyun Ramen Bar, is the top of this list. Not only do they serve up a mean bowl of noodle soup, they also have ice cold Sapporo on tap and have my all time favourite Japanese dish, takoyaki (octopus balls) on the menu.

When you walk into Shyun, you are welcomed with smiling faces, with the Japanese phrase ‘Irasshaimase’ shouted out by all, which means welcome to our store or come on in. If you have been to Japan, you will be familiar with this and will feel like you are right back in Tokyo.

Similarly, when you leave the staff all shout ‘Domo arigato gozaimasu’’ - thank you so much.

I love everything about Shyun Ramen Bar, so head to Carnegie and get yourself a hearty bowl of ramen.
